Mesa is seeking our next skilled and driven team member! Based in Ashland City, we specialize in custom millwork and furniture for commercial spaces in Nashville, TN. Mesa is a young, growing company with a passion for the highly creative finish work in the growing city we love.
Job Role
The Pre-construction Manager supports the pre-construction and estimating process from initial project intake through project handoff to operations. This role assists with estimating, develops preliminary project timelines, manages material samples, and coordinates submittals in support of the Project Manager.This position plays a key role in setting projects up for success by ensuring accurate pricing, clear timelines, and organized documentation before fabrication and installation begin.The ideal candidate for this position will have a robust, multi-year background in millwork and custom fabrication and the ability to read architectural drawings, visualize assemblies, and understand wood and metal materials and finishes. This is a highly detail oriented position and will require the ability to self organize. Computer skills are required.
Key Responsibilities
Estimating SupportAssist in preparing project estimates, budgets, and bid packagesPerform quantity takeoffs from drawings and specificationsSolicit and organize pricing from vendors and subcontractorsMaintain clear and structured estimate breakdownsSupport value engineering efforts and pricing alternates
Preconstruction PlanningBuild initial project timelines based on scope, lead times, and constraintsIdentify long-lead items and critical path components earlyCoordinate with internal teams to align fabrication and installation sequencingFlag potential risks or gaps in scope prior to project kickoff
Material Samples & ProcurementSource, track, and manage material samples (wood, metal, finishes, hardware, etc.) both internally and externally.Coordinate sample requests with vendors and internal teams.Maintain organized sample logs and ensure timely delivery for reviewAssist in evaluating material options based on cost, availability, and quality
Submittals CoordinationSupport the Project Manager in developing and maintaining submittal logs and schedulesAssist in tracking submittals through approval cycles (submitted, reviewed, approved, revisions)Help ensure submittal timelines align with project schedules and fabrication needsMaintain organized records of all submittal documents and revisions
Coordination & CommunicationWork closely with estimating, project management, and engineering teamsCommunicate with vendors and subcontractors during preconstructionMaintain clear, organized documentation across all preconstruction deliverablesSupport smooth handoff from preconstruction to project management and production
Qualifications
4+ Years Experience in millwork, casework, metal fabrication, or commercial construction.Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings and specificationsStrong organizational skills and attention to detailAbility to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneouslyDeep understanding of wood and metal products along with finishesStrong communication and coordination skillsProficiency in Excel / Google Sheets; Procore and estimating software experience is a plus
Preferred Background
Fabrication or field installation experience (millwork or metalwork)Experience supporting estimating, submittals, or pre-construction workflowsUnderstanding of material lead times and vendor coordination
Pay & Benefits
• Salary: $60,000–$70,000 annually, based on experience and qualifications• Profit Sharing• Paid Time Off: 10 days per year after 90 day probationary period• Holidays: 10 paid holidays annually• Insurance: Mesa covers 50% of health insurance costs; dental and vision coverage available at the employee’s expense
Work Schedule
• Full-time, Monday–Friday, 8:00 am–4:30 pm• Flexible time off options available
