This was one of three restaurants Mesa built simultaneously under the same roof — the scope and diversity across all three pushed our team harder than almost anything we've taken on. AJ Capital, the developer behind Wedgewood Village, brought a handful of Chicago names down to do their thing in Nashville. Before signing on, they visited our shop to see if we could handle it. We were mid-renovation on our own building at the time and had to promise we'd be ready when production started. We were.
Building on Houston St. in WeHo meant something to us. Our first shop sat right across the street, back when Gabby’s was the only place serving food. To be building AvroKO designs for RC Matthews at such a scale is a real full circle moment for us.
Momotaro’s space speaks for itself, the work that went into planning and production brought the best out of Mesa. Inspired by Japanese mid century office culture, stepping inside feels like another world. Some highlights for us are the dividing screens, the Japanese Cyprus Veneer, and the brushed aluminum bar menu.
